# What can I still eat today?

Calories left today is your calorie target plus the energy you burned in training, minus what you have eaten. What is left today, and that figure counted in portions of four foods.

## How the answer adds up.

Target, plus training, minus food. Three lines.

1. Your target: 2,600 kcal (what you set for the day)
2. Plus training: 3,020 kcal (2,600 + 420 burned)
3. Minus what you ate: 860 kcal left (3,020 − 2,160 eaten)

| Food | Portions left |
| --- | --- |
| Greek yogurt, 156 g | 9 portions |
| Chicken breast, 196 g | 2 portions |
| Brown rice, 202 g | 3 portions |
| Banana, 118 g | 8 portions |

## Formula and sources

Calories left = target + burned − eaten.

Burned is your own figure, from a watch, an app or zero. The target can come from the [macro calculator](https://quietgains.app/tools/macro-calculator). When eaten passes target + burned, the result reads Over by.

Portions = calories left ÷ the calories in one portion, rounded down. The four foods and their calories come from the curated entries in the QuietGains food database. This is arithmetic, so there is no outside source to cite.

## Reading the result

### Burned is an estimate

Calories burned from a watch or an app are estimates. Leave burned at zero and the day runs on the target alone.

### When it goes below zero

The result reads Over by, with how far the day went past target plus burned.

### Portions are plain division

What is left, divided by the calories in one portion, rounded down.
